Crossrail shortlists Osborne for Custom House station

Crossrail has shortlisted Osborne for the £35m Custom House station upgrade, part of its London-wide transport infrastructure project.

The new Crossrail station will be built on the site of the former North London Line station which closed to passengers in December 2006. It will include a new ticket hall, interchange with Docklands Light Railway and step-free access between the street and Crossrail platforms.

As well as improving links between central London and the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, the new station will be part of the wider regeneration of the Royal Docks area and will be the only above ground station within Crossrail’s central section.

Crossrail expects to announce the winning bidder towards the end of the year for construction to start in early 2013.

Dave Hooper, Managing Director of Osborne’s rail team said: “This shortlisting is part of our strategy to seek larger rail contracts where our skills and experience in the sector – as well Osborne’s ethos of working closely in partnership with customers to make them successful – can ensure certainty of delivery for major projects.”
