Osborne Announced as part of Collaborative Delivery Framework Awarded to Deliver £5 billion of Highways Investment
The Highways Agency has appointed the largest ever framework for the improvement of England’s motorways and major A roads.
26 companies across 4 lots have been appointed to the Collaborative Delivery Framework (CDF). The framework provides a cost effective way for the Agency to procure up to £5billion of investment in England’s motorways and major A roads over the next five years.
The framework award is the next step in the delivery of £24billion investment in England’s major roads in this parliament and the next and represents the government’s firm commitment to investing in infrastructure to boost the economy.
Osborne are delighted to have been awarded Lot 2 which is the Medium Value Construction Work, with scheme values up to £25m, which maybe extended to £50million.
Graham Dalton, Highways Agency Chief Executive said: “This framework is the largest we have ever awarded. It will allow the Agency to deliver large scale improvements to England’s strategic roads, enabling economic growth across the country.
“It is not just the scale of this framework that is important, but the way it is designed to bring the Agency, designers and contractors together in one large collaborative team. We expect to deliver this major investment programme efficiently, speedily, and with real effort to minimise disruption to road users while we build.”
David Poole, Highways Agency Commercial and Procurement Director said:
“The way the Agency is doing business is evolving to meet the historic levels of investment we will be delivering and this framework is a key part of making this more efficient and collaborative. This framework has also been designed to support the industry and encourage small and medium sized businesses to grow throughout the contract.”
The framework will enable the effective procurement of the design and construction of improvements to the network, including major schemes like the A14 upgrade in Cambridgeshire and the Smart Motorways programme across the country. All future opportunities as part of this contract will be publicised in advance and the first is expected to be in late 2014.
