Be Prepared for When Winter Bites- Osborne Support Highways Agency Winter Readiness Campaign

Last year was relatively mild, at least in terms of snow and ice, but the high winds, rain and floods reminded us there is plenty of other severe weather to worry about.

Osborne is supporting the Highways Agency in their winter campaign, which encourages road users to be prepared as they set about their journeys in the coming months.

Icy highways

Winter can easily be the most challenging time for driving on our roads: it gets dark early and winter weather can bring all sorts of hazards – not just snow and ice, but hail, heavy rain, high winds, fog and even flooding.

The Highways Agency is asking road users to take steps ahead of winter to drive safe, avoid breaking down and help reduce the risk of disruption. This includes planning journeys, checking vehicle readiness and having a winter kit ready in the car, just in case it’s needed.

Safe winter driving

Osborne Site Manager, Andy Isted who has worked in the highway environment for the past six years said: “We are pleased to support this campaign. Road users will all benefit from taking a few minutes in preparation for their journeys and being aware of changeable weather and road conditions can help make journeys easier and safer for everyone involved.”
