Osborne Complete Bridge Work in Surrey

In the wake of changeable weather over the last few days, Osborne has been working hard, preventing floodwaters from undermining the bridge carrying Network Rail’s Portsmouth-to-London’s track over the River Wey, in Haslemere, Surrey.

Last month, investigations revealed that high levels of water were putting the railway bridge’s foundations at risk of erosion and collapse, requiring urgent and permanent preventative action.

In order to protect the bridge, grout bags were placed on the riverbed and filled, allowing the construction of sandbag walling against the wingwalls of the bridge. Rock armour has now been situated on the toes of the grout bags and this permanent repair has been completed.
