Chichester Festival Theatre Shortlisted for the 2015 Structural Awards

Chichester Festival Theatre, which was completed by Osborne in Summer 2014, has been shortlisted for the 2015 Structural Awards.

Osborne worked on the redevelopment which was conceived and undertaken by award-winning architects Haworth Tompkins, whose work includes the acclaimed redesign of London’s Royal Court Theatre, the 2014 RIBA Stirling Prize winner the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool, and recently The Shed at the National Theatre.

Ben Scott from Price & Myers said: “The theatre has been completely revived by the work the team put into it, despite much of this being virtually invisible to the casual observer. The acoustics and sight lines are better, the audience more comfortable, and we’ve found a way to reach back to the vision of the original designers.”

The Structural Awards celebrate the achievements of structural engineers around the world, with previous winners including the London 2012 Velodrome, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and The Cutty Sark. Chichester Festival Theatre will compete in the Structural Heritage category, with the winners being announced at a ceremony in London on Friday 13 November 2015.
