University of Greenwich wins Civic Trust Award

The University Of Greenwich Stockwell Street Building has won a Civic Trust Award.

Built by Osborne and designed by Dublin based heneghan peng architects, the building extends the university into the heart of Greenwich and creates a landmark for the town.

The University of Greenwich is one of London’s most international universities with students from more than 140 countries.

The £80 million building is home to the University’s main research and study library, as well as the Department of Architecture & Landscape and the Department of Creative Professions and Digital Arts.

The Civic Trust Awards scheme was established in 1959 to recognise the very best in architecture, design, planning, landscape and public art. Awards are given to projects that demonstrate high quality architecture or design, have demonstrated sustainability, are accessible to all users and have made a positive cultural, social or economic contribution to the local community.
