Osborne Completes Youth Hostel Upgrade

Osborne has successfully completed a £1 million contract with the Youth Hostel Upgrade (YHA) to upgrade two of its flagship properties in central London.

Crucially Osborne’s experience of ensuring minimal disruption to occupants through its social housing refurbishment work, meant the two 186-bed YHA (England and Wales) hostels remained open throughout the works with no impact on customers.

Osborne worked closely with supply partners Altro, Travis Perkins and Mira to complete the 12-week project on time and on budget to refurbish ensuite bathrooms and redecorate communal areas.

Jake Chalmers, Property Director at YHA (England and Wales), said:  “The upgrading of the toilets and showers and en suites at St Pancras and Earls Court are part of YHA’s refurbishment programme. We are delighted with the quality of the end product and the impressive attention to detail to ensure minimal disruption to our guests and business.”

Andrew Gratton, Operations Manager at Osborne Property Services, said: “These are our first projects with YHA and we are very pleased to have been able to work with the client and our supply chain partners to successfully deliver two very challenging jobs.
“Our background in delivering a positive customer experience for our social housing clients has proven invaluable in ensuring YHA’s customers have been able to continue to enjoy their stays at these popular hostels throughout the works.”

Justine McDonnell, Main Contractor Consultant at manufacturer Altro, said: “We are pleased YHA selected Altro safety flooring and hygienic wall cladding for the refurbishment project.  Our products are designed to retain their appearance and reduce maintenance costs.”
