Countdown is on… Apsley Bridge Lift Preparations

With only five weeks to go until the bridge installation, works at Apsley in Hertfordshire are really coming together and progressing well. The new bridge is being rapidly assembled offline.
Adjacent to the railway, Van Elle Piling are installing 13m long CFA piles at a 5 degree rake to avoid a 7m deep foul sewer, and M&J continue with the reinforced concrete construction of the future bridge approach retaining wall.

Lots of multi-disciplinary activities with great collaboration between Osborne and their supply chain partners to make it all happen! And despite all this, the team are still receiving compliments from the public on their effective communications and site presentation.

Osborne began work last year to build a bridge over a railway line, in Apsley in Hertfordshire. The scheme will remove a potential traffic bottleneck on Featherbed Lane. The new bridge and road has been carefully planned and designed to ease current congestion, improve safety and provide future capacity for the estate as it becomes populated.

Osborne’s bridge and road works are due to be completed by spring 2018.
