Cooking up Community Spirit

Osborne teamed up with Aston Group recently, to support community groups the Drawing Shed and Cob in the Community to build a clay pizza oven in a community garden.
Osborne worked with the Drawing Shed and local residents last year to spruce up the sunken garden at Attlee Terrace in Walthamstow.  They also asked residents to come up with ideas for future improvements.

The Community Pizza Oven is just one of those plans that are now becoming a reality.

Residents of Atlee Terrace got more than their hands dirty!  Standing barefoot deep in the clay mixture, the local community of all ages enjoyed some fancy footwork as they mixed the clay with their feet.

The Residents plan to take advantage of the summer sun to host resident pizza making evenings, helping to make a better community.

Osborne operatives, Dean, Freyja, Rosie and Will along with Luca from Aston went to help build the oven.

Osborne also supplied protective clothing, and drinks and snacks for the volunteers and the many families dropping in throughout the day.

Operative Dean Watts said:
“It was a busy couple of days with lots of lifting and hard work, but it was really rewarding to do something so positive in the community, and great to meet so many of the families and kids living there.”

Jo Fletcher, Head of Engagement for Osborne Communities said: “It’s great to see people coming together contributing to the clay build – even though it got a little messy! The project had a clear vision and was shared with positive community cohesion.”
