Career name:Technical Bid Writer
Location:Redhill
Business:Rail
Closing Date:26/02/10

Osborne is one of the UK’s leading privately-owned construction, civil engineering, rail, homes and property services contractors providing complete construction solutions to clients in the public and private sectors. With an annual turnover in excess of £330m, we operate throughout the south of England and the Midlands, building and maintaining the railways, roads, homes, hospitals, schools and offices that we all depend on in our daily lives.

The Rail Sector is looking to recruit a Technical Writer to work with the Procurement Team with the primary role to prepare high quality technical submissions for competitive tenders. You will preferably be degree qualified with a background in civil engineering.

The Sector has a current turnover in excess of £70m and has plans for steady growth over the next 3 years that will see turnover approaching £100m. We have developed close working relationships with key clients within Network Rail and the various Train Operating Companies, and also undertake work for other Rail clients such as London Underground, TfL and Local Authorities.

Your primary responsibility will be to improve the content and value of our technical and quality submissions. Our aim is to ensure that the quality element of our tenders achieves as high a score as possible, helping us to reinforce our good reputation as a top quality provider of rail infrastructure services. This will require you to work closely with the rail procurement team (estimators, planners), and also to liaise with other key members of the Rail team. You will work out of our Redhill office, but the role will also involve travelling to our various work sites to meet and obtain information from our operational teams. You will be working on a variety of projects including station and platform enhancement schemes, term maintenance contracts, installation of new bridges and lifts, bridge strengthening and replacement projects and multi-million pound depot construction and upgrades.

Maintaining the values and professional image of this long established company, we are seeking a high calibre individual for this challenging role, and the successful candidate will be provided with a progressive career, competitive salary, 25 days annual leave, and a contributory pension scheme.
