In June 2007 we handed over a new £7.2m five-storey office block for the London Borough of Hackney. Forming part of a regeneration scheme in the area, the offices house the council’s Building Control Division.
The Annex Building has been built to a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating and incorporates an eco-friendly sedum roof to enhance insulation.
The building is clad using specialised GIMA blockwork, the first of its kind to be used in the UK, curtain walling and aluminum rainscreen cladding.
A roof top prefabricated ‘packaged’ plant room has been utilised to benefit both cost and programme.
The site is immediately adjacent to the mainline Liverpool Street railway and required numerous approvals for the works including scaffold erection, piling, crane positioning and oversailing, demolition works and new cladding erections.
