In April 2007, we completed the first phase of the bathroom refurbishment contract with Places for People. Not only did this involve the bathroom work, it also involved electrical testing, replacing doors and redecoration to 300 properties. All the works were completed with residents in occupation. This is a prime example of where resident liaison has been very successful and resident satisfaction levels reached more that 96%
Martin Holt, Housing Sector Manager, said: “The project, which was being completed at around 13 bathrooms per week, was a sensitive one because all the properties were occupied and it was critical the work was carried out with the minimum of disruption to residents. We know from experience that good relationships with residents need to be established early and maintained throughout the project. We had regular resident consultation meetings and a resident liaison officer to ensure that residents understood the full extent of the works and were given the opportunity to air their concerns and questions.”
Phase two of the project started in June 2007.
