The Osborne Annual Review 2007 announced the best results since the company was founded in 1966. Turnover
increased by 7% to £251.3m, pre-tax profits were up by 27% to £4.6m and at the end of the year shareholders’ funds stood at £23.8m.
In the Review we highlight some of the challenging projects we have delivered in the past year, These projects demonstrate the diversity and complexity of the work that we undertake for our clients. In recent years Osborne has grown from a building and civil engineering contractor into a company with the capabilities to design, construct and maintain a wide range of complex assets.
Our business is in good shape going forward, and whilst we are delighted with our financial results, our focus will always be on our clients and the work that we do for them.
During the year we completed the £18m Science Centre for the London Metropolitan University and started work on a £32m academic building for the London School of Economics. We are progressing our first two PFI projects to provide care facilities in Croydon and Hertfordshire, and we have been selected as preferred bidder for our largest project to date at £42m.
The health and safety of our workforce and the impact of our activities on the environment are central to the manangement of our business. Our Accident Frequency rate for 2006/07 was 0.27, an improvement of 48% on the previous year, and is evidence of our commitment to site safety. In the Review we have a section on Corporate Responsibiilty and Sustainability which reports on our activities in this area in some detail.
