HRH The Princess Royal, President, Rural Housing Trust (the Trust) opened nine new homes at Chalky Field, Lane End, Buckinghamshire on Wednesday 20 May. The project is the result of the Trust’s research into housing needs in the village which found that local people needed, and wanted, help in buying a home in their community.
The two and three bedroom houses and maisonettes are available through shared ownership for local people who cannot afford to buy an open market home in the village.
Built for the Trust by Osborne, the development was supported by Wycombe District Council because it provides affordable homes which must always be sold to local people.
Formerly an allotment site, the land was owned by the Parish Council who fully supported its use for this purpose, providing the allotments were suitably relocated. The allotments are now in the neighbouring field and as part of the re-location, the Trust has provided new sheds for each allotment, and a stand pipe providing water to the site. The Trust would like to thank the allotment holders for their patience and co-operation throughout the project.
Osborne Deputy Chairman, Andrew Osborne, commented: “Osborne is proud to have worked with the Rural Housing Trust on a number of schemes in the South East. By working together Rural Housing Trust, Hastoe and Osborne have produced a quality scheme in a much needed location. These homes have a made a significant difference to the quality of people’s lives in the area and we are committed to working with both the Trust and Hastoe on other schemes in the future.”
