Name of Hertfordshire’s new mental healthcare facility revealed

Kingfisher Court has been revealed as the name for Hertfordshire’s brand new, state-of-the-art facility for people with a mental health illness or learning disability.

Currently under construction by Osborne, Kingfisher Court is a £42million facility for Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) which is due to open later this year. Over 150 staff, service users and members of the public were involved in the name suggestion process.

The facility is based on international best practice, and will provide quality acute adult mental health care, as well as assessment and treatment for people with a learning disability.

Mike Trigg, Senior Project Manager for Osborne said: “With the constant changes and challenges facing the Healthcare sector, we continue to work in a collaborative way with Trusts across the sector, offering our knowledge and experience, to integrate their clinical and our specialist construction knowledge to improve services, efficiencies and the well-being of patients.”

Kingfisher Court is part of a wider five year programme which will improve the efficiency and quality of HPFT’s services across Hertfordshire, as well as those in North Essex and Norfolk
