New station car park opens on 30 May at Banbury

Passengers from Banbury station will benefit from a new multi-storey car park as of Friday 30 May. The car park, which will be officially opened in late June, has 707 spaces and is part of a major improvement programme at the station.

The new four storey car park will open at 2pm on 30 May and is located on the east side of the station, off Bridge Street.

It has improved access to the station via a covered walking route with a bridge to the concourse and platforms. There is also an additional station entrance on the east side with new ticket office.

The improvements are part of a £10 million investment in the future of Banbury station which has been funded by the Department for Transport.

Chad Collins, Head of Stations at Chiltern Railways said: “We are committed to investing in our stations to give our passengers a high quality travel experience. The new car park includes a covered walking route to the trains, making it easier to take advantage of our services and is part of a major transformation project set to benefit passengers at Banbury.”

It is important to note that as part of the planning requirements, the existing Tramway car park will close after the last train on Friday 30 May. Vehicles left at Tramway after the closure will be removed.
Passengers driving from the south or west side of Banbury are advised to allow a little extra time for their journey to the East Car Park.
