Osborne Helping Others to Help Themselves

Osborne apprentice plumber, Jess Hensford, helped Young Carers make birdboxes, wheelbarrow planters and a sparrow ‘hotel’ as part of their ‘chill-out day’ during their recent school holidays.

Osborne provided a ‘safe area’ for the young carers to build the bird boxes, giving them a rare and safe experience of using power tools.

All the bird boxes are made from waste wood collected from Osborne construction sites and are then made into flat-pack kits by the Mencap Riverwood Project in Woolwich, where they are sold to help support the charity.
