Life in the Pit Lane

Osborne has been commissioned by Southern Railways to demolish and reconstruct two maintenance pits at the Stewarts Lane Depot in Battersea.

The new pits will facilitate better access for routine maintenance to train undercarriages, improving their reliability and efficiency.  Substantial temporary works will be installed during the construction period, commencing at the buffer stops and running continuously for approximately 250 linear metres.

Osborne was selected as the contractor due to experience completing the similar works in 2010, which was well received by Southern Railway and the depot workers.

The project is valued at around £3.7 million and is due to be completed in December 2014.
