Osborne Constructs New Halls at Southampton University
Osborne is working on the construction of the New Chamberlain Halls at Southampton University.
The old Chamberlain Halls were demolished in the summer of 2012 and Planning permission was gained in December 2012. The new facilities will house 356 students in five blocks.
Work is already underway with further developing the design to ensure completion in summer 2016.
This project strikes the right balance of meeting the University’s increasing need for hall places and reducing pressure on the Southampton private housing market. It also complies with Southampton City Council’s policy which designates the site for use as student residential accommodation and calls for intensification.
The new accommodation importantly protects the character of the Bassett area.
