The Heat is on for Winter Woes

Osborne is preparing for winter even in the summer months as engineers are currently working on a £4m enhancement on behalf of Network Rail in Effingham, in Surrey.

Effingham depot services and maintains the de-icing machines that run throughout the autumn and winter months, to help make sure the Wessex rail network is not affected by the cold weather.

The work includes a whole strip and re-roof with new insulated roof panels and safety glass including new valley gutters and strengthening of roof trusses.

Osborne will be installing a new 3 phase power upgrade and new gas main supply. These new services supply a new high level gas heating system throughout the maintenance area of the depot.

Osborne is also adding to the existing fresh air and exhaust extraction system so the depot can use one of the two inspection pits to test run their de-icing machines during servicing.
