Osborne to Repair Hampshire Embankment

Osborne has been awarded the £1.5million contract to stabilise the embankment at Allington Lane at Eastleigh in Hampshire.

After monitoring the embankment since October 2014, various challenges have been encountered and overcome, including two complex ecological scenarios where both Great Crested Newts and a colony of bats were discovered and safely moved to new homes.

Osborne will redevelop the drainage and install 160 meters of sheet piling on either side of the underbridge to stabilise both sides of the embankment.

The vast majority of the works will be completed during normal daytime working hours and are expected to be completed in the New Year.

Nick Freeman Osborne Site Manager said: “After a year of assessing the embankment and immediate surrounding areas at Allington Lane, it will be great to get to work on site knowing that we have addressed all the ecological concerns and are conserving fragile local habitats.”
