Osborne to Build New Affordable Homes in Islington

Osborne has been awarded the contract to redevelop two sites in Rowstock Gardens as part of the London Borough of Islington’s Newbuild Housing Framework.

Work on the £6million project will start towards the end of December, providing twenty new affordable homes in the North London suburb, with additional landscaping adding to the regeneration of the area.

As part of the work, Osborne will remove a pre-existing two-storey block of flats and a row of garages, replacing them with a four-storey block of sixteen flats and four new houses.

Osborne will use cutting edge technology designed to achieve high levels of thermal efficiency, lowering heating bills for the occupiers, It will also use  innovative and sustainable off site construction techniques, aiming to keep disruption and pollution to a minimum during construction.

Islington Borough Council Principal Planning Officer, Stefan Sanctuary said: “The mixture of housing and significant amounts of both private and communal space is well considered. We especially like how the design and appearance is of a high quality which not only respects the character of the adjoining Hillmarton Conversation Area, but its development and the use of sustainable materials will minimise energy usage and maximise energy efficiency.”

Garfield Coombs, Osborne Director, Construction said: “Rowstock Gardens is a great project to kick off the Newbuild Housing Framework. Through great design and the use of cutting edge technology, it will be exciting to help revitalise this area of Islington and provide much needed affordable housing at the same time.”
