Osborne in the Community

Charity Mencap in Dacorum helped Osborne to create a collection of some fine art which is now being enjoyed by local customers in the community.

Service users have recently been helping Osborne Property Services deliver their Community Investment activity.  Over the past two years Osborne and Dacorum Mencap have built a positive relationship, supporting a number of activities, from social Christmas events, creative get togethers and staying healthy initiatives.
For their latest project they decided to join forces and host a coffee morning at Pond Close in Tring to celebrate the newly completed Planned Works at the sheltered housing scheme.

At Mencap’s social evening in Berkhamstead where members get together and socialise in a safe environment, the adults with learning disabilities created their pieces of art.  Using mugs donated by Osborne, the members equipped with a rainbow of ceramic permanent pens, got busy designing their own unique styles which they would give as gifts to local Osborne customers in the sheltered housing scheme.

Together, both Osborne and Mencap then hosted the coffee morning where they were able to meet the locals  serve refreshments and hand out their decorative mugs!

Community Investment Co-Ordinator at Osborne, Hannah Bailey, said “We were so grateful to have Dacorum Mencap on board for this project; they really helped us deliver a special morning for our residents who we had got to know so well during the Planned Maintenance Works at Pond Close. Giving back to the communities we work in is central to our business so to have the support of people who also have so much to give has been extremely effective.”
