Construction Managers at Osborne Named as Finalists in 2016 Awards

Osborne is pleased to announce it has two construction managers named as finalists for the Construction Manager of the Year Awards 2016.

Allen Greenslade is a finalist in the £2-7m new build or refurbishment project category for the “Allen Building” at Downview Primary School. The project involved the construction of a two storey, steel frame teaching block plus extensions and refurbishment works. With over 34 years at Osborne on a variety of projects, Allen is thrilled with his nomination for this particular project. Allen said “It was a privilege to work in an area that I grew up in and deliver a quality building for the community.”  Mandy Williams, Headteacher, supported Allen in his nomination and said; “The project was delivered ahead of schedule and on budget too.  The quality of the build and finish are amazing. We have a fantastic learning environment for children now and into the future for which we are extremely grateful. We were so taken by Allen’s dedication and hard work that our new ‘Allen Building’ was named after him!”

The project was also named “Project of the Year (Buildings)” at the 2016 Constructing Excellence Awards.

Chris Hickman is a finalist in the £7m-15m new build or refurbishment project category for Portesbery SEN School in Surrey. The project involved the construction of a single storey school building and two storey sixth form block that will support the needs of the pupils aged 2-19 with severe learning difficulties. Chris has over 45 years’ experience in the industry and has been involved in the delivery of some of the most challenging and complex projects in the World. However, he felt this had been his most important project saying, “This project will always be a special part of me. I have helped to create an environment where pupils can grow, flourish and broaden their horizons but above all be happy, safe and secure.” Matthew Sartin, Headteacher, reinforced his nomination saying, “Chris’ dedication to the project enthused all of the Osborne team and was reflected in their actions. We did not know what to expect when we embarked on this journey but we are delighted with Chris’ professionalism and commitment.”

The project also won “Best Inclusive Building” at the 2016 South East LABC Building Excellence awards.

The awards ceremony will take place in September.
