Student Accommodation in Winchester Progresses Well

Osborne are currently developing a student accommodation scheme to provide 257 high quality Student Bedrooms at Andover Road in Winchester for our own investment in JV with Student Residences Investments Ltd
New Year progress on site clearance is good which means our planned construction works will start on time and to programme at the end of January with piling due to start late February.

The joint venture own the freehold of a site located just off Andover Road in central Winchester.

Planning consent was secured in February 2016 for demolition of the existing building and the construction of 257 bedrooms of student accommodation. The site is very well suited to student accommodation as its situated approximately 0.7 miles from the main University of Winchester campus and approximately 0.5 miles from the University of Southampton’s Winchester campus.

With good transport links to road and rail and a short walk from the city which provides students with easy access to shopping and leisure facilities, and less than a 15 minute walk from the two Universities campuses.

The development comprises of 3 main accommodation blocks (A,B&C) providing 257 beds comprised of the following mix of cluster rooms and studios.

10 standard ensuites
186 Premium ensuites
41 standard studios
15 Premium studios
5 accessible rooms

The design  is based around a cluster arrangement of en-suite study bedrooms served by a communal kitchen and dining room.   The cluster sizes vary, with a maximum of 8 bedrooms.  There are also a number of self contained studio flats which include their own kitchenettes.

Osborne’s own construction team are also the preferred main contractor with the design incorporating SIPS panels being provided by the Osborne owned company, Innovare.

Osborne is delighted to be able to provide all facets of the Development process meaning a seamless delivery of a project. The work is due to complete for the September 2018 intake of students.
