Inspiring our Engineers of the Future with Spaghetti and Marshmallows

An enthusiastic team of Osborne engineers recently used their Development Day to inspire young potential engineers at a local school… and what better way to introduce Civil Engineering than with a competition to build the tallest tower using nothing but spaghetti and marshmallows!
Our team worked with three classes of thirty children to share a little information on the life of an engineer and why it is so enjoyable – using a well thought out presentation to enlighten and engage with the children before handing out the Personal Protective Equipment and setting them their challenge.

A very special judge named Rosie, the Osborne mascot was also on hand to help with the measuring and prize giving much to the excitement of all.

The school was hugely appreciative and numerous letters of thanks have since been received. Such great initiatives are invaluable in raising the profile of the industry and encouraging interest from the earliest of ages.
