Where we are with WebContractor

You may remember hearing about WebContractor…..
WebContractor is a cloud – based solution offered by Open ECX that will enable subcontractors to upload and submit applications for payment through an online portal. The solution will significantly improve efficiency in application for payment processing and improve our visibility of future cash flow requirements on contracts.

As part of Osborne’s commitment to industry best practice and a desire to strengthen supply chain relationships, they have been developing a subcontractor application for payment solution that will be used by their subcontractors.

Osborne is currently in the pilot phase, which will continue to the end of the year and they are testing the  solution on five projects across both the Construction and Infrastructure business units.
The testing to date has been going well and the outcomes from using  WebContractor are meeting expectations both in terms of efficient processes and visibility of transactions for both main contractor and subcontractors.

Feedback from both Osborne team members and subcontractors has been positive.
Here are some comments from Osborne and Subcontractor users:-

“WebContractor has shown that it will provide a more efficient process and a step change in the way we manage our subcontract payments. A few of the things I particularly like are it’s web interface as opposed to the current burdensome forms & emails and the clarity and increased level of detail available when I require it.” – Stuart Worringham,A565 North Liverpool Key Corridor contract

“My first impression is very positive, it is a good solution and it is easy to use. I haven’t encountered many issues to date. The staff at Open ECX are extremely helpful and have been more than willing to provide assistance where required” – James Hehir, Senior Quantity Surveyor – Greenford High School

“We have only been using WebContractor now in earnest for two months and find it reasonably simple and useable and think that it will be a convenient tool in respect of having all the applications and certificates available in one location providing better visibility. The notifications of due dates and certifications and the like are also effective.” – Simon Walker, King Construction
Further development of the solution is being done to accommodate the processing of invoicing and authenticated tax receipts processing. It is expected this additional functionality will be available when the solution is rolled out in the new year across the business.

Mark Mitchell is Operations Finance Director at Osborne.
