Communities Celebrate National Gardening Week

To celebrate National Gardening Week, the Communities team have been working with local residents and groups across Dacorum, Winchester and Waltham Forest, to spruce up gardens and lay vegetable beds.
A team of five Osborne volunteers headed to the Sunnyside Rural Trust, which supports adults with learning disabilities through horticulture, to assist with a big garden spring clean. The group also planted lavender and rose to create a ‘memory lane’ for residents of Evelyn Sharp House.

Earlier in the month, we joined a group of enthusiastic sheltered scheme gardeners at Valley Court, Stanmore, creating vegetable beds from old scaffold boards, a wildflower box to encourage pollinators into the garden and a hedgehog home made from waste wood.

Meanwhile in Waltham Forest, we helped a group of budding gardeners at Alderiche Way build vegetable beds, which they hope will further engage local children who have previously enjoyed other community gardening activities.
