Tackling stress for breakfast

Osborne and Optivo colleagues came together over breakfast this week to share tips on dealing with stress as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Research has shown that two thirds of us experience a mental health issue at some point in our lifetime and tackling stress, the theme for this year’s campaign, can go a long way to alleviating problems such as anxiety and depression.

Last September, Osborne Communities commenced a 10 year deal with Optivo to provide property services to over 7,000 homes around Hastings, with the partners sharing office space on the outskirts of the town.

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, both organisations decided to come together for a team breakfast to discuss well-being, tips for dealing with stress and offer each other support.

Claire Brown, Team Leader for Home & Communities at Optivo, said: “A recent study by the Mental Health Foundation found that 74% of people have at some point been so stressed they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope, therefore supporting and listening to our colleagues can make a huge impact on mental health.

“Taking time out for a team breakfast is a great way to support each other and have a positive start to the day!

Paul Brazier, Interim Operational Lead at Osborne Communities, said: “Mental health and well-being is so important and we all have a responsibility to look out for and help our colleagues. Even something simple like encouraging them to take a break or get some fresh air during a busy day can make a big difference. The team breakfast was a great way to bring us together with our colleagues from Optivo and discuss how we can support each other.”
