Safia attends President’s Reception

Safia Whitwham attended the Presidents Reception at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), in recognition of her ‘Outstanding personal contribution to the ICE’ recently,  in London.

Safia said of the reception; “It was a brilliant event which was particularly special for me as I could take a guest and celebrate the person who is most important to my success – my mum. She is a fantastic role model who is strong, intelligent and kind. She has always believed in me, even when I haven’t believed in myself, and I know how lucky I am to have someone like her supporting me. I hope one day I can be as inspiring as her and help others pursue a career in Civil Engineering.”

Safia is an Assistant Site Manager at Osborne and she was recently shortlisted in the Graduate of the Year category as part of the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) London Civil Engineering Awards 2018.
As well as working at Osborne, Safia is also Chair of the Institution of Civil Engineers London Graduate and Students Committee.

ICE London’s various committees and panels bring together like-minded people and give members the opportunity to increase their knowledge, find advice, and raise the profile and standard of civil engineering. The G&S Committee organises events, courses, competitions and various activities to help members develop their careers and to meet and socialise with other graduates.

Previously, Safia won the accolade of Most Promising Trainee Civil Engineer at the CECA (Civil Engineering Contractors Association) Awards.
