Supporting Employability Skills for Students

Osborne joined a host of local businesses to support an Employability Skills event for pupils at Hemel Hempstead School last month.

A hundred and eighty year 10 students attended the event, organised and run by Connect Dacorum, offering help and advice including CV writing and interview skills.

Students were given the opportunity to interview facilitators, including Osborne Community Investment Manager Hannah Bailey, to discover more about a wide range of jobs, before taking part in a ‘speed interviewing’ game, to practice their interview techniques.

The interactive session allowed pupils to come away with lots of helpful feedback and advice directly from employers about what they look for in a CV, covering letter and throughout the interview process.

Cindy Withey, Manager of Connect Dacorum, said: “Hemel Hempstead School will be very proud of their Year 10’s who were well behaved and engaged in the session.

“It’s a pleasure for Connect Dacorum to organise these events as it benefits the pupils but is also very rewarding for our facilitators to help shape the future workforce”.

Hannah Bailey, Osborne Community Investment Manager, said: “It was fantastic to work with such enthusiastic students who used the opportunity to find out from local employers how they could make themselves stand out when looking for work and ensure their CV and interview skills were top notch!

“Utilising the knowledge and experience we have of hiring new recruits is an essential part of our commitment to the local community.”
