Osborne is “Highly Commended” in Highways Awards

Osborne is part of the Gade Valley viaduct strengthening team, who won the “Highly Commended” award in the Environmental Sustainability category, at this week’s Highways Awards.

The Highways Award is for the team which is made up of Connect Plus, Connect Plus Services, Osborne and Highways England.

Martin Parsons, Project Manager at Osborne, said:  “The Highly Commended award is recognition of the positive environmental and sustainability initiatives which have been implemented at Gade Valley Viaduct. This has been motivated by our responsibility to the environment and to the local community in which we work.”

The Award for Environmental Sustainability in the Highways Sector was awarded to an organisation, highway authority or partnership that is able to demonstrate consideration of environmental issues within a project. The project had to improve sustainability in the highway environment such as: carbon footprint reduction; local environmental benefits; sustainable material use; reduction of CO2 plus involve community liaison and consultation.

The winners were revealed at a gala evening at the Lancaster, London, this week. It was hosted by former Formula 1 McLaren pit crew mechanic and motivational speaker, Marc Priestley.
The Highways Awards were organised by Highways and SMART Highways magazines and supported by: the Department for Transport, the Department of Regional Development, Highways England, Transport Scotland, Infrastructure Northern Ireland, the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE), ITS (UK) and the Welsh Assembly Government.
