Customer Service with a Difference

Many thanks to Billy Knight-Wood for going that extra mile for our customer.

When offensive graffiti was spotted on the Green Lane Footbridge, in Hertfordshire, Billy sprang into action, sourcing materials and organising a team to solve the problem.

Pleased with the response, Hertfordshire’s Project Manager Graham Baggaley said:

“I wanted to say a big thank you to Billy Knight-Wood… there was graffiti on the bridge, clearly not a snagging issue. I asked Billy to source the paint for me.  He then found a guy to drive all the way to Kent and back the following morning at 4am. His willingness to help solve this problem meant that the graffiti could be covered and the footpath closure already in use utilised for said painting. Really impressed!”

Billy said: “It is all about teamwork and cooperation from our supply chain, in the short space of time I had to source the paint, arrange a driver from our labour supplier to leave home at 4am, borrow staff from another one of our schemes and get our QS to arrange a quote. Everyone was waiting on hold until we got the go-ahead at approximately 4pm – to get the job done the following morning. It was a fantastic team effort and the quote from our client speaks for itself.”

Osborne has successfully installed a new Bridge at Green Lane in Hertfordshire late last year.  The old footbridge spanned the Hitchin to Cambridge railway line, providing essential access for members of the local Hertfordshire public. However, over the years its condition deteriorated and it came to the end of its serviceable life, so it was decided that the bridge should be replaced.
