Silver Win at Construction Manager of the Year

Congratulations to Osborne Project Manager, Matt Coleman, for his silver medal at the Construction Manager of the Year awards.

Matt was a finalist in the Restoration category for his achievements at Hackney Town Hall, where over six years he oversaw the refurbishment and modernisation of this grade II listed building into a fit-for-purpose community hub. The judges recognised that the key to Matt’s success was the relationships he developed with the client, design team and supply chain which had led to him overseeing all the previous phases.

“Matt’s approach and attitude has been one of communication and collaboration where collective problem solving has been at the heart of each meeting. He has been positive and motivating to work with which is also apparent when talking to the wider project team and sub consultants. We highly recommend Matt for Construction Manager of the Year 2018.” Chloe Marshall , Associate Director, Hawkins\Brown

This was a challenging project due to the fact that the Town Hall remained in occupation throughout and the amount of design changes but Matt sought innovation wherever possible, including the use of an ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE structure) over the atria, cutting 10 weeks off the programme and capturing substantial budget savings.

The project has already won a RIBA London award and a New London Architecture award, as well as being a finalist in the Constructing Excellence London and the South East awards in the Preservation and Rejuvenation category. Next up is the Building Awards on 6 November where it is a finalist in the Refurbishment Project of the Year category.
