‘Redesigning’ our University

“For our final piece of coursework last year, we were asked to redesign one of our own University of Brighton’s buildings, producing a scale model.

The (surprisingly) most challenging part of the project was meeting each other on a Sunday as the university and local libraries nearby were closed! Fortunately, we remembered that Number One Portsmouth’s project offices were open – so we made a mess in there instead! Thank you to Jim McCormick and the project team for allowing us to use this space.

Working at Osborne has undoubtedly helped us with this project, for example, in the design phase, it was incredibly useful to be surrounded by construction professionals who were happy to help out and offer advice. Additionally, our experience on site has been extremely valuable when answering our lecturer’s tough questions. When we were asked about infill packages it was easy to answer with, “they will be SIPs panels, made by Innovaré of course!”

In the end, our hard work paid off and we were delighted to be awarded the top grade in our year group – 82%.”
