Vauxhall Innovative Efficiency

At Upper Kennington Lane, Vauxhall, bridge strengthening works during the Christmas Blockade included replacement and repair of the deck plates, ballast boards and rail and wheel timbers over a 60 metre length.

The team were praised for their innovative technique to template the steelwork using Perspex sheets.  This allowed the rivet positions to be marked out accurately and avoided delays from trimming during the final fitting.

Prior to the Christmas blockade a considerable amount of work was completed off track that included road closures to allow strengthening and painting of the underside of the structure.
