Meet Osborne- Hannah Watson

We talk to Hannah Watson at Osborne to learn more about what she does and the role she carries out.

Q: Please tell us a little about your background and how you came to work for Osborne?
I previously worked for a builders merchant for 9 years developing into Trade Sales Manager. All my working life has been in the building industry so I have a lot of knowledge and experience and was keen to for a new challenge. I previously worked with my now line manager, James Everson and he introduced me to Osborne.  This has given me a new path to explore whilst being able to utilise my skills and gain more learning.

Q: What does your role involve?
As Cost Controller, I raise the purchase orders for our operatives in the responsive repairs and voids teams. I also source products for unusual items required often not found in stores. Being to respond quickly to our operatives is really important so as to not hold them up, whilst staying conscious of costs.

Q: What challenges do you face in your role?
The biggest challenges we have is when there are high priority orders to be made which, for our responsive repairs team is often.  We’re always aiming for right first time so getting the materials available quickly is so important.  This can often be challenging so being able to prioritise is a focus. It’s an exciting fast paced role but gives me a great sense of achievement.

Q: What’s the best/most rewarding thing about your job?
It’s rewarding knowing that you’re doing something to help someone. By helping our operatives, residents are getting their repair fixed and that’s satisfying.  Giving good service and having a great rapport with our operatives hopefully makes their day a little better , and I love the people I work with.
