Topping out Ceremony Marks Milestone at Hobhouse Court

Our Hobhouse Court project next to Trafalgar Square celebrated a key milestone with a traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony held on Thursday 28 February 2019.

The ceremony marks the moment of reaching the highest point in the landmark development and representatives from main contractor, Osborne, attended, along with the client, Hobhouse SA, their team including Deloitte and Bankfoot, and the professional team including TP Bennett, Thornton Tomasetti and Max Fordham.

Following the successful delivery of the Mercers Walk development in Covent Garden with Deloitte in 2016, Osborne were awarded the £31m contract for the Arquitectonica-designed (in association with Brisac Gonzalez) mixed-use development on Whitcomb Street.

The design includes 20 high-end apartments and 1,100 m2 office and 650 m2 retail space. The redevelopment also foresees the return of the prestigious Royal Watercolour Society to their original home.

Following demolition down to ground level, the new structure has been built over existing load bearing grade II listed vaults and BIM was used to ensure the new structures were fully coordinated and informed by the existing structure.

A representative on behalf of Hobhouse SA, Said: “The Hobhouse Court project has been exciting and today we see the rewards of everyone’s hard work. We look forward to seeing final completion within the next few months.”

Andrew Osborne, Chairman said: “At Osborne, we have a track record and approach of working closely with our customers to ensure successful delivery of their projects. We are delighted to be an integral part of this important landmark for our customers at Hobhouse Court.”
