Meet Osborne: Eva

As part of our Meet Osborne series, we are sitting down with our Property Services colleagues to gain an insight into their role and what life is like working at Osborne.

This week, we sat down with Eva Hayward, Bid Co-Ordinator.

Q: Please tell us a little about your background and how you came to work for Osborne?

I’ve worked in the construction industry since leaving University (after studying Criminology & Sociology) and started by joining the Business Development Team for a competitor, where I was involved in tenders for Healthcare, Education, Repairs and Maintenance and New Builds.

I stayed there for about 3 years whilst also working for Sussex Police as a Special Constable in my spare time. Then I decided to jump ship and joined Osborne 3 years ago and have been here ever since!

Q: What does your role involve?

My role involves assisting the Business Development Team to secure new work for the business. The job can include searching for relevant opportunities within the sector and collating all the relevant information to sell ourselves to the client. It can also encompass proofreading and editing all bids before they are sent back to the client.

The role is very varied, and no day is ever the same!

Q: What challenges do you face in your role?

The main challenge in my role is managing my time effectively. There are often times when there are multiple bids and tenders going back to clients at the same time so prioritising workload is key. To date though, I’ve not missed a deadline!

Q: What’s the best/most rewarding thing about your job?

The most rewarding part of the job is when we get notified we have been successful on a tender. The atmosphere throughout the office when we were notified we had won the contract with Slough Borough Council was amazing and everyone was buzzing. Being a part of the team who all worked so hard to get it across the line was extremely rewarding.
