Topping Out Ceremony at Solum Twickenham

A Traditional Topping out Ceremony took place for the £60 million Solum Twickenham project, recently.

Representatives from Osborne attended, along with our customer, Solum, and guests from Network Rail, Rolfe Judd Architects, South West Railways, SSE, Waterman Group, Fabrite, Lambert Smith Hampton and Rosguill.

Osborne was appointed in 2017 by Solum, a partnership between Network Rail and Kier Property, for the regeneration of Twickenham and Walthamstow Stations, delivering over 190 apartments and creating significant investment at both stations.

Transformational plans at Twickenham will see the station extended and remodelled around a brand new public plaza.

The station regeneration features lifts to the platforms, improvements to the pedestrian walkway, a significantly larger ticket office and additional cycle spaces. The new plaza features new shops and has created a modern gateway to Twickenham, including the creation of 115 new apartments.

Andrew Osborne, Chairman said: “I was delighted to attend this Topping out Ceremony.  The complexity of working in this safety critical rail environment is not to be underestimated. Installing the podium deck required a 52 hour rail possession which was handed back into operation 6 hours early. A testament to the teams’ professionalism.”
