60 Seconds with… Dave Brown

Tell us a little bit about your role.

I am still quite new to Osborne and so is my role. I joined at the beginning of December last year to help Osborne achieve one of our business objectives – to become a learning organisation. My focus since joining has been the launch of ‘Your Learning’ and now that has been successfully rolled out, I will be aiming to ensure there is engaging content that encourages people to come back again and again.

What is the best thing about Your Learning?

There are lots of good things about ‘Your Learning’ but one of the main benefits from my point of view is how it enables people to be able to access learning when they want it. People learn better when it suits them, and ‘Your Learning’ goes a long way toward empowering people to do just that.

Favourite blog/website?

A regular go to is  www.imdb.com  when I’m watching a film. Normally, I can’t remember an actors name or where I saw them last and can’t enjoy the film until I’ve had that “Oh yeah…” moment.

Title of your autobiography?

Dave ja Vu

Game of Thrones or Line of Duty?

I started watching GoT but tailed off in the second season. April was spent binging on 5 series of Line of Duty so that’s a clear winner.

Describe yourself in three words.

Quietly rebellious

What would be your superpower?

Mrs Brown would like me to be Thor.

Pet hates?

A growing number as I’m getting grumpy in my old age! Most I can’t really say without offending someone, but people meandering slowly in front of me is one I can mention.

If you could meet anyone living or dead, who would it be?

Tough one, so many to choose from, but I reckon Bob Mortimer would be great to spend some time with.

Favourite band?

It varies based on my mood but Queen are a constant.

If you could learn to do anything in just one day, what would it be?

Fly a helicopter – preferably Airwolf.

Who would be the worse person for you to be stuck in a lift with?

Scarlett Johansson, pretty sure I’d be dumb-struck miss the opportunity of a life-time.

The last gift you received?

A whistle with ‘Coach Dave’ engraved on it. A thank you from one of the kids who I coach football to on Saturdays.

Signature dish?

Carbonara – it’s pretty good even if I do say so myself.

Dave Brown is the Senior Learning Technologies Advisor at Osborne.
