Teaching residents DIY skills in Dacorum

At Osborne, we are committed to helping people in the areas we work in. One of the ways we do this is by providing training to local residents.

Launched in September 2017, the Tenant Academy’s’ vision is to encourage council residents to build social networks, improve their skills and build confidence for employment through a range of various workshops and activities.

Our recent interactive DIY workshop held at our offices was a huge success. Osborne operatives were able to teach residents basic DIY skills, enabling them to carry out small repairs around their home. They were split into three groups and were taught a number of skills including; unblocking drains, hanging a curtain pole, installing a lock and changing a plug. One tenant stated, “This course is essential if you live alone as it gives you confidence in doing DIY tasks.”

Jo Fletcher, Head of Engagement, Osborne Property Services, commented, “This was a great workshop with residents really being hands-on. It’s wonderful to see the learning being put into practice.”

Thank you to our operatives for helping out on the day. We are looking forward to hosting a similar workshop again soon.
