Supporting Silver Lunches in Winchester

Osborne Property Services supported the FirstBite ‘Silver Sunday’ event at the Winnall Community Centre recently.

The event was aimed at older residents in the local area, who were treated to a two course roast dinner with over 45 covers being served in the afternoon.

FirstBite uses surplus food from charities, food retailers, local growers and allotments to make healthy, nutritious meals for groups in the community.

We supported the event along with student volunteers from the Winchester Hub and Rick Stein’s Restaurant in Winchester. Waitrose Winchester supplied the meat for the meals and a good amount of food was sourced from FareShare, who distribute surplus food to the community.

The Mayor of Winchester, Councillor Eleanor Bell attended as well. Before the lunch was serviced, there was an exercise music activity session to build up big appetites!

A local resident said: “A day to remember, excellent company, lovely food, thank you for welcoming me.”
