UCA Awards Osborne Design and Construction of New Student Residencies

Osborne has been awarded the design and construction of new halls of residency for UCA (University for the Creative Arts), based in Surrey.

UCA has more than 6,000 students, studying over 110 creative courses across four campuses in Farnham, Epsom, Canterbury and Rochester. Notable alumni include Turner Prize nominee Tracy Emin, Oscar winners Daniel Greaves and Suzie Templeton, fashion designers Zandra Rhodes and Karen Millen. UCA has more than 6,000 students, studying over 110 creative courses across four campuses in Farnham, Epsom, Canterbury and Rochester.

Osborne will deliver a 252 bed, student residential development of five new purpose-built buildings. The project responds to its picturesque setting whilst nestling into the contours of the steeply sloping site. The scheme also promotes student wellbeing through its sensitive landscaping, courtyards and considerately selected materials. Additionally, Osborne will make modifications to the existing campus car park and will demolish the existing main hall building.

Osborne is due to complete the work by autumn 2021.

Professor Alan Cooke, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Resources) said: “This year UCA was named the top specialist arts university in every major league table. As a consequence, we are seeing increased demand from students all over the globe who want to join our creative community. We are delighted to be working with Osborne to offer new, quality accommodation.”

John Craig, Managing Director of Osborne Built Environment said: “We are delighted to be working with the UCA for this much needed project in Farnham. We’ll be bringing a team that is highly experienced, collaborative and have successfully delivered many complex and student residential developments. The combination of our shared values, aspirations and teams will be essential to the project’s success.”
