Aspiring Career in Slough

Students across Slough were given the chance to learn more about a variety of careers at the recent Slough Aspire Careers Event.

The two-day fair organised by Learning to Work, saw over 2,000 young people attend; to learn and discover the wide variety of career opportunities and routes into work. Our Community Investment Team were present at the event, alongside members of our Resourcing Team. Two of our budding apprentices, Brandon and Connor also came along to support and engage with students and explain what an apprenticeship is like.

The Osborne stand was interactive, with several activities planned for the visiting students including a game where you had to match the UK Average Starting Salary to the job role and description. This game prompted a lot of debate and interest into the wide variety of careers available in the construction industry. We also took part in a lively Q&A panel, facilitated by Learning to Work. The Q&A gave students the ideal opportunity to ask local employer’s questions about the working world.

Learning to Work said: “Thank you for attending the Slough Aspire Careers Event. It was a great two days and it is only with your commitment and enthusiasm for the event that makes it such a success and helps our young people make all those important decisions about their futures. Thank you for giving up your time to join our business panel. We have had a superb response from both students and teachers regarding the event and we are already planning for 2021!”
