Keeping Kids Active in Winchester

Osborne supported programme leads Winchester City Council and ActiveMe 360 to deliver an inclusive 3-week Summer Sports Program for children in the local area, encouraging the value of teamwork and staying active.

Each week was dedicated to a sporting theme inspired by international sporting events. Week one saw the children embrace Euro 2020 playing football. Followed by Tokyo Olympics where they got to try out some Olympic sports. Finishing their last week with Multi-Sports where the children experienced a range of games and challenges.

This program offered childcare support to local families while also keeping children outdoors and active in a fun environment throughout the summer holidays. An astounding 765 children attended throughout the 3 weeks, showing what a useful resource, it was to local families.

Calum, Health Improvement Manager at Winchester City Council: ‘I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your support over the last three weeks for our Summer Activity Programme. I appreciated all the photos you took and collating feedback from parents. As well as all the gifts you provided to the children through the program. Also, thank you to the management at Osborne for the financial contributions towards the event and the final medals.

As predicted due to summer holidays and the ‘British weather’, we experienced days of high, and days of low attendance but overall, the project was seen as a huge success, engaging with a diverse range of children with a mix of sporting abilities.’
