Bovis Homes and Osborne-Playing their Part

Bovis Homes and Osborne are teaming up with their supply chain partners to build a playpark for Two Waters Primary School in Hemel Hempstead.
The school is close to a site, where Osborne is currently working on building a bridge over a railway line. The companies were involved in a design day recently which saw the children creating ideas which Osborne are now capturing into an exciting 3D design for the play park.

Recycling and reuse is a key theme and the children are collecting hundreds of plastic bottles, as Osborne source recycled construction materials. The reuse of what are normally classed as waste materials and turning them into usable and fun play equipment will demonstrate how sustainability and being environmentally friendly can be achieved.

The next step is for the hard graft to take place during the Easter holidays, where Bovis Homes, Osborne and the local council will come together to deliver the play park. Many Osborne employees are also going to use their development day to take it to the next stage.

Jon Millar, Project Manager for the site said;

“When I got involved with the Apsley project back in late 2015, it was apparent to me that Community relations were going to be key to the projects success. Since that point we have put the community at the heart of everything we do. After a visit to the local school, only 300 yards from our work site and talking with the Headmaster, it was clear that their play facilities were badly in need of improvements – something I knew we could help them with.  The project has simply snowballed from there. I am really pleased with how we are not only working collaboratively with our customers, Bovis Homes and Hertfordshire Council, but internally as well, with many talented Osborne staff members getting involved from across business.”

Osborne began work last year to build a bridge over a railway line, in Apsley in Hertfordshire. The scheme will remove a potential traffic bottleneck on Featherbed Lane. The new bridge and road has been carefully planned and designed to ease current congestion, improve safety and provide future capacity for the estate as it becomes populated. Osborne’s bridge and road works are due to be completed by spring 2018.
