Broadcasting the Good News

Hannah Bailey, one of Osborne’s Community Investment Co-ordinators, was recently approached and spent an hour with Matt Hatton at Radio Dacorum a charity, community station, discussing Osborne’s projects in and around the area and how Osborne continues to help and support the local community.

Hannah was able to play songs that had been suggested by some of Osborne’s community partners and project leaders, including songs by Farrell Williams, Madonna and ‘People Help the People’ by Birdy.

During the show Hannah discussed at length the great working relationships Osborne has forged with the local community, including organisations such as AgeUK and Mencap as well as ongoing community projects run by Docorum Borough Council. The discussion included ‘Youth Connexions’ and ‘The Youth Tenant Involvement Team’ who Osborne worked closely with at Crawley Drive recently, playing a key role in helping residents improve their communal garden area.

The relationship with Youth Connexions has allowed Osborne to launch a work experience programme in partnership with local schools. Offering students both trade and office placements, Osborne are helping the next generation develop valuable workplace skills that will help both themselves and the local community.

Osborne’s relationship with the South Hill Centre was also discussed on the show. Once a month, Osborne spend time with members of the community offering advice and guidance for those interested in joining the industry. This working relationship led to Osborne clearing 8 large ton bags filled with garden waste for the pre-school so children could enjoy their new Forest Schools project.

Alan Perrett, Account Manager at Osborne said:  “At Osborne we firmly believe that we have a duty to invest in the communities within which we work and I am delighted that this has been recognised by such a highly regarded member of that community in Radio Dacorum.”
