Placements

These are paid placements typically offered to university students for up to 14 weeks over the summer months.  Our placements are designed for those individuals who have completed their first year of study and wish to reinforce their learning with a practical placement.

Summer placement opportunities are available in the following disciplines; Quality Surveying, Project Management, Bid Management, Design Management, Estimating, Subcontractor Buying and Mechanical and Electrical.

Programme duration: Up to 14 weeks from the beginning of June.

Minimum requirements: University degree; candidates must be in their first, second or final year of a construction-related study, OR, in secondary education and have grade C or above for Maths and English at GCSE.

Evidence of skills developed from extra-curricular activity: i.e. Duke of Edinburgh, sports or other team pursuits.

Next Step: After completing the summer placement, students return to university or secondary education with a greater understanding of the industry and working life. The highest achieving students could be invited to join us after graduation.

“I am currently half way through my placement and can’t even begin to stress how much I have evolved as a person and student whilst I’ve been here. Osborne prides itself in being a family-owned and run business, which runs through every activity I have been involved with so far. Being conscious of this I feel like you can make/propose innovative and out of the box decisions knowing you have  this “safety net” beneath you.

Osborne value health and safety as their utmost priority by running a Stop Think programme which aims to prevent people being injured in the work place. This really opens your eyes into the lengths this contractor in particular will go to look after their employees and supply chain.”
