Practical, purpose-based requirements and sustainability objectives achieved in the delivery of a state-of-the-art learning facility for construction students and apprentices.
Issue
Funded by the Coast to Coast Capital Local Enterprise Project, The MET Brighton required a new Construction Trades Centre to provide state-of-the-art learning facilities for construction students and apprentices.
The building needed to be designed around 3 key project goals for the customer.
• A collaborative learning environment that replicated real site conditions to enable students and apprentices to work together and follow each other in the construction process
• An environmentally developed building that would maximise sustainability and keep costs down
• The project would support the promotion of construction trades through engaging the local community as much as possible to drive interest to the industry.
